Ágúst Birgisson útskrifaðist úr læknadeild H.Í. 1993, lauk grunnnámi í almennum skurðlækningum í USA og tók þar meistaranám í heilsuvísindum. Fór síðan í sérfræðinám til Noregs í lýta- og bæklunarskurðlækningum. Á árunum 2007-2008 vann hann á KirugCentrum sem er einkarekin lýtalækningastofa í Stokkhólmi og hlaut þar mikla reynslu í fegrunaraðgerðum. Ágúst hefur öðlast mikla reynslu við: lýtaaðgerðir, meðferð við brunasárum, aðgerðum á höndum og fegrunaraðgerðir. Ágúst er með aðsetur í Læknahúsinu Domus Medica og starfar einnig á Læknastofum Akureyrar og FSA. Ágúst fjallaði lauslega um lýtalækningar allmennt, sýndi okkur ýmsar fyrir og eftir myndir af ýmsum fegrunaraðgerðum og fræddi okkur um fylliefni og notkun þeirra. Þetta var vikrilega skemmtilegur og góður fyrirlestur.
